Prevention of Dehydration

Dehydration is best avoided by drinking a great deal of water during exercise and especially after you have lost a great deal through perspiration. The body cannot handle large amounts of water being depleted from its system and it must be equally replaced during and after exercise. This is especially true for those who are losing weight or toning their bodies because they are already taxing their system beyond its normal level. Relying on thirst alone to determine your needs may not be sufficient. This is especially true in hot environments or for those older than 65. Good hydration is actually one of the most important aspects to keeping the body’s system in balance and gaining all the benefits of your exercise program.
